BGHC Coach Selection Committee Seeking Applicants!

The BGHC Coaches Selection Committee is seeking applicants for 15U, 12U and 10U head and assistant coaches.  Please submit our online coaching application via the link below.

ADULT COACH CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (18 AND OLDER)

ALL coaches must have the items in steps 1 thru 7 VALID for the 2023-24 before they can join their team on the ice/bench in the 1st practice after tryouts/evals.  

Reminder: If you have not completed steps 1 thru 7 by the following dates, you will not be added to the roster.

  • 12U Coaches: 10/12 

  • 10U Coaches: 11/1

  • 15U Coaches: 11/5 

  • 6U/8U Coaches: 12/15

Step 1:  BGHC Coaching Application

Step 2:  USAH Registration, Yearly, $46, BGHC reimbursable

  • USA Hockey Registration

  • Click on ‘REGISTER NOW’  and identify as an ‘Ice Player/Coach’ and complete personal data.

  • View and print/save your registration confirmation page.

  • Provide a copy of your registration confirmation page or your registration confirmation email to the BGHC Vice President via email or in person.

Step 3:  MNH Background Screening, Every 2 years, $30, BGHC reimbursable

  • If you have passed a Coach Application and Background Screening Registration within the past year, it is still valid for the current season.  The system will let you know if you are due for a background check. 

  • To renew: MN Hockey Background Check

  • Click on Minnesota Hockey Background Screening at the bottom of the page and then click on the Coaches button and fill out your personal data.

  • Choose your association which is Bloomington Jefferson

  • The background screening may take up to a few days to complete.  Provide a copy of your passed background screening email to the BGHC Vice President via email or in person.

Step 4.  USAH Safe Sport Training Course, Yearly, No Fee

  • If you are uncertain if you need to complete this for the current season please contact the BGHC Vice President. If BGHC has your data available we can tell you if you’re up for renewal.

  • To renew: Safe Sport Training

  • Click ‘Register for SafeSport Training’ near the bottom of the page and complete the course.

  • Provide a copy of your completed SafeSport Training Certificate to the BGHC Vice President via email or in person.

Step 5.  USAH Age-Specific Module Course, Once per age level, $10, BGHC reimbursable

  • If you are uncertain if you need to complete this for the current season you can contact the BGHC Vice President providing the age level you intend to coach in the upcoming season and you will be informed if you need to take the age-specific module course for that age level.  You can also check yourself by going to https://cepsearch.usahockey.com and searching for your name in the USAH database.

  • Age-specific modules: https://www.usahockey.com/agespecificmodules

  • Click on ‘AGE-SPECIFIC MODULES REGISTRATION & LOGIN’  and register for your age level and complete the online course.

  • Provide a copy of your completed Age-Specific Module Course Certificate to the BGHC Vice President via email or in person.

Step 6:  MN Hockey Concussion Training Course Form, Yearly, No Fee

  • Check the Minnesota Hockey Coach Concussion Certification Form at the bottom of this page (Concussion Form.pdf) and check if you have completed one of the training options at the bottom of the form.

  • If you haven’t completed training previously follow the link provided and complete it.  Note that USAH age-specific module training covers this concussion training.

  • Once you have completed one of the listed training options fill out the form and provide a copy to the BGHC Vice President via email or in person.

Step 7:  USAH Consent To Treat, Yearly, No Fee

  • Complete the Consent To Treat form at the bottom of this page (Consent to Treat.pdf) and provide a copy to the BGHC Vice President via email or in person.

Step 8:  USAH CEP Clinic Certification, $45+, BGHC reimbursable (due before 12/31/23)

Your USAH CEP Clinic Certification Level needs to be VALID through the end of the current season (March) to REMAIN on your team’s roster and on the ice after Dec-31.  If you need to up your CEP Clinic Certification Level for the upcoming season it is recommended that you REGISTER ASAP as these clinics can fill up early, especially at convenient locations.

  • If you are uncertain if you need to complete this for the current season you can contact the BGHC Vice President providing the age level you intend to coach and you will be informed if you need to complete a CEP Clinic this year and which level you should register for if so.

  • The requirements for which CEP Clinic you should take, as well as a searchable database of available courses and locations for the current season can be found here: https://www.usahockey.com/coachingclinics

  • You may look up your current CEP clinic certification level by entering your name and searching here: https://cepsearch.usahockey.com

  • BGHC will also reimburse any lunch fees for in person clinics but please be sure to keep your receipt.

  • If you are required to up your CEP clinic certification level please notify the BGHC Vice President via email or in person when you have completed the course.

Reimbursement for all qualified coach certification costs, as listed above, will be paid by your team manager after the final Dec-31 rostering and coach certification deadline.

  • The authorization form must be signed by a current BGHC board member and a copy provided to the BGHC Vice President .
